License Fees

All 2008 annual licenses and stamp privileges are valid from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009.

A resident is a person who has lived in Indiana continuously for a full period of 60 consecutive days preceding the date of a license purchase and does not claim residency for hunting, fishing, or trapping in any state other than Indiana or any country other than the United States.

* A person must first purchase a Bonus Antlerless Deer License at the rate of $24.00 (residents) or $150.00 (non-residents) before purchasing the Second and any Additional Bonus Antlerless Deer Licenses at the reduced rate.

** Youth hunting licenses are valid until March 31 of the year following the year of purchase, even if the individual turns 18 during that time period.

Apprentice Hunting Licenses

  • An apprentice hunter can be of any age.
  • An apprentice hunter can be a resident or non-resident.
  • An apprentice hunter does not have to complete a hunter education class to purchase a hunting license.
  • An individual can purchase no more than 3 apprentice hunting licenses during his/her lifetime. 
  • An individual who is at least 18 years old and has a valid hunting license (or is exempt from needing a hunting license under state law) must be in close proximity and be able to communicate at all times with the apprentice hunter.  The individual who accompanies the apprentice hunter cannot accompany more than 2 apprentice hunters at one time while in the field.

Lost Licenses

Duplicate licenses can be purchased only through the Customer Service Center at a cost of $3.00 each for residents of Indiana.  Non-residents will be able to purchase a duplicate license starting on July 1, 2008 at a cost of $3.00 per license. Call (317) 232-4200 to obtain a duplicate or re-print of your license.

Get your license one of three ways:

  1. Online

    All resident and non-resident licenses are now available for purchase online. You simply need your credit card and a printer to print your license, and you're ready to go.

  2. In Person

    Most licenses, including youth hunting licenses, are available from independent agents, county clerks and most Department of Natural Resources properties throughout the state.

    Non-resident licenses are available at the state’s Customer Service Center in Indianapolis and at most DNR properties. The DNR Customer Service Center is located in

    Customer Service Center hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
    Monday through Friday.

  3. By Mail

    Send your order with the following:
    • Name
    • Date of birth
    • Include a copy of hunter education certificate or card if born after Dec. 31, 1986.
    • Complete address, city, state, zip, Phone number
    • Height, weight, color of hair and color of eyes
    • Social Security Number (this is mandatory)
    • Specify the licenses including the season (i.e. deer for muzzleloader)
