Due to the severe storms on Sept 14, the Knobstone Trail has many trees down blocking the trail. The trail may be rough in some sections, please allow extra hiking time to go around blowdowns.
11-07-08 update. The following trail sections have been cleared:
The direct path from Delaney Trailhead to the Spurgeon Trailhead (about three miles)
The shortcut between the Delaney loop and the Spurgeon Loop.
The re-route around the timber harvest area (see map below)
From the New Chapel trailhead to mile marker 19.5
From Deam Lake trailhead to mile marker 10.5
Trail Re-route -The Spurgeon Hollow loop is closed due to timber management activity. A temporary reroute has been put in to avoid the closed sections of trail. The trail will be closed from Aug 2008 until further notice. We hope that the closure will be less than one year.
