The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is working together with school districts throughout the state to develop an environmental education program known as the Learning and Environmental Awareness Partnership (Project LEAP). The focus of the project is to provide educational materials, activities, and curricula to Indiana students and teachers in grades 3-8, though the information may be adapted for use in all grades.
The project is designed to assist teachers in integrating environmental education into existing science and health curricula in addition to assisting in the development of a student's knowledge about the quality of Indiana's environment.
Currently available is the Project LEAP Air Module, which contains six units about air, a glossary of terms, and four environmental indicator project studies. The six units focus on the air we breathe, air pollution, state of the air, sources of air pollution, ozone, and a review.
Reserve a copy of the Project LEAP Water Module, which will focus on the importance of water, the water cycle, ground water and surface water, watersheds, treatment and delivery of drinking water, wetlands, and water conservation. Available Fall 2006
Project LEAP is currently unavailable. IDEM is in the process of updating its curriculum. Please check back later.
