IDEM > Funding > Clean Water Act: Section 319(h) Grants Clean Water Act: Section 319(h) Grants

The Federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) provides funding for various types of projects that work to reduce nonpoint source water pollution. Funds may be used to conduct assessments, develop and implement TMDLs and watershed management plans, provide technical assistance, demonstrate new technology and provide education and outreach. Organizations eligible for funding include nonprofit organizations, universities, and local, State or Federal government agencies. A 40% (non-federal) in-kind or cash match of the total project cost must be provided.

IDEM is now actively seeking applications for Section 319 Grants for 2008. Read the following document for details.

Applications for the Federal Fiscal Year 2009 Section 319 Grant Solicitation are due September 1, 2008. Please review the Program Guidance for more details on project eligibility and requirements, and contact the NPS/TMDL Section staff for assistance in developing a competitive proposal. All projects must include a matching contribution, from non-federal funds, of 40% of the total project cost.

These applications are being accepted for both Base and Incremental funds (see Program Guidance for definitions). The FFY 2009 Section 319 Program Priorities are:

Any projects applying to implement a Watershed Management Plan must commit to having a Plan that meets the Watershed Plan Checklist (2003 update) [DOC] prior to initiating a draft contract for the project.
