The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will be holding a public hearing beginning at 6:15 p.m. (local time), Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Heritage Hall in Hier's Park, in Huntington. The public will be given an opportunity to submit oral and written comments to IDEM regarding a draft concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) permit for Andrews Dairy, LLC, located near the intersection of State Road 105 and County Road 200 South, in Huntington County.
Permit documents are available for public review at the following locations:
- IDEM's website at http://www.in.gov/idem/4852.htm#andrews (for an electronic copy of the draft permit, public notice and briefing memo) and http://12.186.81.89/fnjavaview.aspx?DocId=30542191 (for an electronic copy of the permit application);
- Andrews-Dallas Township Public Library, 30 East Madison Street, Andrews, IN 46702 (for a physical copy of the draft permit only); and,
- IDEM's Central File Room (for physical copies of both the draft permit and permit application). The IDEM Central Rile Room is located on the 12th floor of the Indiana Government Center North building, at 100 North Senate Avenue, in Indianapolis, Monday through Friday, excluding official holidays, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (local time). People who plan to visit IDEM to review these documents should call the IDEM Central File Room at (317) 232-8667 to make arrangements beforehand.
IDEM has extended the public comment period for the draft permit and also will accept written comments postmarked by Saturday, August 9, 2008. The public may mail written comments to IDEM at the following address:

The agency will consider all public comments before issuing a final decision concerning the draft permit.
